New Seasons, New Adventures
As many of you may know, Matt is in his final year of his Doctorate of Physical Therapy program and will be starting full-time clinical rotations at the beginning of October. It's Matt’s last week of classes ever (is this real life?!) and we are way too excited for the next stage of the game! His first clinical rotation will be for 8 weeks in San Francisco, followed by 8 weeks in Tampa, and finishing with 8 weeks back in Miami before graduating in May!
We have been anticipating this step for a while and what it will mean for us, especially because our home and Miranda’s job are both here in Miami. We have been praying for God’s direction and making steps in the way our hearts desire, waiting for a response whether that be a door opened or a door closed.
For the past six months, Miranda has been pursuing a new job opportunity as a travel nurse. Travel nursing has been something she has been interested in for a while now, but with Matt tied down in one city, traveling for work wasn’t something we felt ready to pursue. When we learned that Matt had been placed in California for his clinical rotation, the idea of travel nursing came back into our conversations. We both knew it wouldn’t be the solution to being apart during the last 6 months of school. It would, however, at least give Miranda the opportunity to try something she has dreamed about doing while Matt completes his final requirements.
We decided together that travel nursing was something we wanted to pursue and Miranda started to submit applications. The process became a season of testing for us as we waited for opportunities and watched our desired timeline pass by. It was an overwhelming few months, but we saw God pull us through some times of uncertainty and continued to feel this was the right step for us.
So now for the big news...
A few weeks ago Miranda received the call we have been hoping and praying for – a job offer for a travel nurse position! Even more exciting is the hospital she will be working at is within driving distance from the location of Matt’s clinic in California! We are so excited for our new adventure and especially thankful we will be together for the first 2 months of Matt’s clinical rotations!
It is such an incredible feeling to see the months of hard work validated and this door opened for us to step through to our next adventure. We have seen God teach us so much during this period – persistence, passion, grit, patience, and surrender. Through this process we have seen God prepare our hearts to be molded to his plan. We believe His plan is bigger and more amazing than anything we could dream of! It has been a busy couple of weeks as we have been scrambling to make arrangements for California. Despite it all, we know that this adventure will be more than worth it!
