Introducing... Oceans and Evergreens

Welcome to Oceans & Evergreens! We want to thank you for visiting and tell you how excited we are to share our story with you. This blog has been something we have both wanted to do for a while. All of our content is created by us and inspired by our little life together. We will be talking about relationships, marriage, transitioning into adulthood, traveling, and finding adventure in the daily. We have lots to share, lots to learn, and are excited to start this journey together! So first, we want to share a little bit about who we are.

How we met

Both of us are Midwest kids, born and raised in Minnesota. Matt grew up just north of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) and Miranda grew up in the south metro. We met each other during college, where we started dating and were married after a year in a half (hey, when you know, you know!) Getting married young came with its set of challenges and joys. Overall, we both agree our marriage has been nothing short of an adventure so far!

Where we are now

We are currently living, going to school and working in Miami, FL. Neither of us had intentions of moving out of state after college, but when Matt was accepted into the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at the University of Miami, we decided to take the plunge and move to Florida. Miranda was able to find a job quickly after moving to Miami and loves her job as an ER nurse. After living our whole lives in a state known for its brutal winters, we have had no problem settling into our little slice of paradise. Never did we plan on our life shifting in such a different direction, but we have seen ourselves grow immensely over the past few years, both personally and as a couple. We wouldn’t change the experience we have been given for the world!

What’s next

We couldn’t write an intro post without addressing the question we get all the time: What are your plans after Matt finishes school? This is currently a question we don’t know the answer to. Matt will be leaving for his clinical internships in October and we are hoping to find more clarity during that time and the months following. For now, we are settled in Miami and waiting for God’s call to our next destination. Our city is beautiful, full of culture, and has weather that cannot be beat, so not a bad place to spend some time waiting for the next opportunity!

 What we do for fun

School is the main reason we moved to Miami, but we love to find adventures during school breaks and time off work. Miranda’s job as a nurse gives her a great amount of flexibility to plan around Matt’s school schedule. We have been fortunate to spend school breaks off together and have made a hobby of traveling, visiting family back home, and exploring locally as well. Over the past two years we have had so many memorable trips and weekends away. We are excited to flash back to some of these as well as share our upcoming trips!

We hope that our blog inspires you and helps you take hold of each day that life has to offer. We invite you to get involved, send questions and ideas, comment and share. Our vision is that our blog would be a place for you to find encouragement, tools, and inspiration for your everyday life. Because life isn’t just about the big things, but also the little things that grow and shape us everyday.
