My Favorite Baby Carriers as a Second Time Mom

I really don’t know where I would be without my baby carriers. Especially as a now mother of two, my hands are currently the hottest commodity in our home for all family members (ask my husband lol). But in all honesty, babywearing is just essential for me to get anything done around here. It’s how I (incredibly) took on the hobby of breadmaking like a full on homesteading lady and how I effectively manage to keep two humans alive in a SF apartment during the rainy season. I’ve become skilled at this craft, so it’s only fair to share all I have learned after carrying two very sweet baby girls all around San Francisco and beyond.

Before I get into all the carriers I currently own, I’d like to preface that my carrier preference totally depends on my mood. It’s why I have a variety to choose from, and I think it’s a good strategy if you have the means. Just like an outfit, my babywearing situation changes depending on my mood and what I’m doing that day, but I do find myself reaching for all of these. So here we go: my official baby carrier review!

Ergobaby Carrier

This was the only “structured” carrier I owned with my first, and it did the job perfectly. We still use it often with our second! The straps are super cushioned and comfortable and can be adjusted easily. I also love the built in shade to protect baby’s head on sunny days! If I had nothing else to compare it to, this carrier would be all I needed. The only area I feel like this carrier falls short is its packability. Being a city mom, I have to carry everything along with me wherever I go. I find this just takes up more room in my bag/stroller than my other carriers. Still, this is a great option at a very reasonable price!

Solly Baby Wraps

The Solly baby wrap is by far one of my favorite picks. It’s cozy, buttery soft and keeps baby super close. With my first baby, we referred to this wrap as her “kryptonite” because no matter how fussy, she would fall asleep almost immediately after being wrapped. There is a bit of a learning curve to getting the wrap right, but once you do, it’s a great all around wrap. There are so many cute colors and patterns that I honestly feel like I am getting dressed when I go out with these wraps on. I might have even been known to substitute a wrap for a shirt some days… I think having at least one of these wraps (if not more) in the stash is totally worth it!

Wildbird Sling

My sweet sister in law gifted me a rainbow Wildbird carrier to commemorate our second daughter being born after experiencing a miscarriage beforehand. It was a thoughtful gift I think about often as I carry my precious rainbow girl in it. I have found myself reaching for it when I need a quick carry or want something super low profile and packable.

My favorite part of the sling is it’s versatility. Although I wouldn’t say it’s my preferred carrier for a newborn because it is tough to get “just right” with a little baby. However, I do see it being immensely helpful for the later days of carrying. Because of the ability to easily adjust for size, I have even found myself using it to carrier my oldest daughter when she needs an extra snuggle as well as my littlest one. Looking forward to many more years carrying with this sling!

Artipoppe Carrier

This carrier was definately my second baby splurge and I have gotta say, I do think it lives up to the hype. What I really love about this carrier is it has enough of everything to make it a daily staple. It’s stylish, low profile, and easily adjustable. I have used it to carry my newborn and my toddler in the same day. I can front carry and back carry in it and it fits nicely in my tote bag for excursions around the city. But the biggest game changer about this carrier is that I have been able to breastfeed while wearing it! The straps make it easy enough to loosen for repositioning, making this may favorite choice as an out and about carrier!
